Organic Nature Forms a Hopeful (Amal) Light
Project Brief
VISO was approached to design-engineer and fabricate a bespoke lighting package for this new restaurant. Miami is getting a fresh, new sophisticated restaurant by master restaurateur Charles Khabouth. Amal, meaning hope, celebrates Khabouth's Lebanese roots. In fact, the inspiration for this space comes from Lebanon's sandy shores and contemporary Mediterranean architecture. VISO, in collaboration with Studio Munge, design-engineered light fixtures that features soft palettes and natural elements to complete the overall aesthetic.
Client Need
Located in Coconut Grove, Amal plays on its gorgeous surrounding views. This feeling extends into the custom lighting. For fully designed spaces that are executed well, everything has a purpose. It's all in the details and lights play a huge part of the overall experience. In this instance, the lights needed to embody a delicate romantic element. Free-flowing organic shapes when done correctly will come off as magnificent, inspirational works of art. Enter VISO. VISO Lighting is experienced in working with large-scale fixtures with various materials. The whimsical form is enhanced by the hand-woven rattan of the shade, which is accented by white trim. Can we be so bold as to say, the lights make the space?
Solutions
VISO design-engineered and fabricated large woven pendant lights that suspend above the dining tables. These large bohemian pieces, spanning 8-feet across feature an earthy palette. In addition to creating a warm ambiance, these lights each house one 4W LED bulb at 2700K.
