Custom Light Boxes Adorn the 1230 Club Ceiling

Project Brief

When this supper club restaurant, owned by restaurateur Sam Fox and renowned musician Justin Timberlake, first began its journey, it was clear it needed the right partners for the job. VISO worked in collaboration with AvroKO and GoodShop Manufacturies to pay homage to the 19th century supper clubs, incorporating Art Deco style and elegance. 

Client Need

Each level of this bar and restaurant has its own style. With a project this large it required an established brand that fullt understands lighting and has the expertise to design-engineer and manufacture with skill. 

As well, with a feature lighitng installation that spans across the full ceiling, from fabrication to installation, it required complete coordination and precise detailing. 

Challenges

The feature lighting installation involved multiple parts, one being the colelction of 65 light boxes that fit on a custom framework. Spanning across approximately 50ft, this light fixture needed to incorporate a system to allow for ease of maintenance. This resulted in VISO design-engineering a way that allowed for parts to be replaced instead of the whole thing at a time. This attention to detail allowed VISO to provide the client with cost-saving solutions in the future. 

Solutions

Custom Light Boxes
This impressive install has 65 light boxes in a chrome metal finish that are fastened to the ceiling. Connecting them is a custom oak wood frame in a custom colour that allows for easy access to each of the light boxes that slide out accordingly. As well, the multi-facetted interior of the light boxes create a dramatic light display for diners below.

Custom Chandelier
In between the liht boxes, above the central bar area, the domed ceiling suspends a grand, 3-tier LED chandelier. This eye-catching piece has an antique brass finish and central ribbed frosted white acrylic diffuser. Surrounding each of the tiers are decorative chains that are made up of amber beads that pick up on the 2700K lighting for enhanced dining experience.

Custom Pendants
Unique, decorative LED pendants line the booths of the 1230 Club. Emphasizing rich detailing, the milk glass globes are affixed to a metal plate with fabric tassels and decorative chain with beaded tassels. In addition, each piece features hand painted linear gold accents.

Custom Chandelier
In another dining area, rich tones continue to decorate the space. The custom chandeliers that fill the room, incorporate decorative fabric tassels and chains in amber, antique brass, and red. The chains have two variating lengths, 138 large units and 160 small units, surrounding the frame and LED light within.

Custom Pendant
On another floor, unique pendants are suspended within the Honky Tonk level of the 1230 Club. Adding to the fun nature of a honky-tonk, VISO design-engineered this fixture with a ribbed acrylic sheet that holds 24 LED modules with threaded end caps. 7 of these unique pendants can be found hanging over the bar.

Custom Wall Sconce

The final space in the building is Honorary Member, an intimate cocktail lounge that seats 50. In this space are antique brass wall sconces with acrylic ribbed diffusers for a refined elegance. Dimmable LED lighting allows for an intimate setting that elevates the senses.
